Perry Zimmerman, Guest Blogger

At the farmers market with my mom I asked if we could buy some radishes. She said yes so we bought 1 bunch of them. When we got home I experimented with them by using grated radish, mint, and apple cider vinegar. Then, I formed it into a patty with a sprig of fresh mint hanging atop (see above). I got all the mint from the garden in my courtyard. I chopped it as small as possible, and mixed it in the dish. I tend to use 1 radish per batch. To specify what type of radish I use, I use watermelon radish. Have you ever wondered why they are called watermelon radishes? At the farmers market the salesperson told me. When you cut them open they are the color of watermelon and the outside is greenish so if you could picture it, it would almost look a little like a watermelon. Miniature of course.

  1. Perry, you're a great blogger! I like your recipe a lot and I didn't know about watermelon radishes. Last night I made a salad with shredded radish, pea shoots, and wild arugula. It was delish!
