Dim Sum & a Family Pig-Out

Yes, it was a pig-out of Uncle Curt proportions in our favorite down and dirty, grand, huge dim sum emporium. Our kids are dim sum hounds but we tend to let it go and enjoy...Golden Unicorn vegetable dumplings are so delicate filled with water chestnuts, mushrooms, carrots, some lily...so tasty. The rice noodles are great too in their sweet sauce. The Chinese broccoli side dish helps keep our digestive systems moving and the pots of green jasmine tea help in that area too. The kids did let a little shrimp (maybe a lot) slip into their overwhelmingly vegan diet from which they do have an occasional break. The Dad even had a pork bun; it is hard for me to sit at a table with a pork bun and watching chicken's feet get carted by is not so pleasant either but the cultural experience and authenticity overwhelms all else.
The sesame balls, somewhat greasy rice dough but special filled with their sweet lotus paste, hit the spot once in a while and the especially distinctive black sesame balls filled with a paste of peanut and black sesame are amazing but kind of sweet. The best thing about it is you can experience a lot but be mostly GF because so many dumplings do not use wheat flour and I had no trouble maintaining my vegan-ness. Anyway, glad we did fit it in one last time before summer where if I want a good dumpling I have to make one:)
